Dr. Kunle Filani
For the purpose of display, exhibition and sale of artworks, paintings, drawings and sculpture, to encourage talented young artists, and for young artists to be inspired by the masters, Atunbi Art Gallery is set for its official launch and public presentation which will hold on Tuesday, June 21, 2016.
The event will take place at Plot 36 Araba Baptist Church Street, Illasamaja, Lagos, by 3pm. Guest of Honour is the former Provost, College of Education, Abeokuta, Dr. Kunle Filani. Chief launcher is the CEO, Union Diagnostics and Clinical Services Plc, Dr. Olusola Akinniyi. Also, the proprietor of African Art Foundation, Mr. Yemi Shina, is expected at the event.
The gallery, which was registered in 2006, is aimed at creating aesthetic delight, with some of the works also designed to arrest viewers about the spiritual and the sublime. According to Biodun Akinkoye, a curator and member of the management, “We intend to showcase the kingdom of God, through the exhibition, depicting the goodness of life, as God himself is the greatest artist”.
The management of Atunbi Gallery is optimistic that during the launch and exhibition, artists, collectors, connoisseurs and critics will have a lot to engage their imaginations.
